Exhibition opening at Gasworks in 2014 was my first experience of being on show.
The opening night of my first show felt so exciting and overwhelming at the same time. It was a group exhibition of sculpture at the Gasworks Arts Park. It was a collaboration of our group called the Artists of Life, the name designed to reflect the diversity of age, background and experience of our members.
The name was coined by the late and very great Andrew McCutcheon, ex Architect/Politician who was an original member of the Gasworks life-class group coordinated by sculptor Eva Ermer. This picture shows the massive crowd that came to our opening night. It was so exciting for me.
I will always be grateful to Eva, as it was her who encouraged me to start coming to this life-class which was the beginning of my development in sculpture. Thank you Eva and superb sculptor Rachel Boymal who taught and encouraged me.
